Even before they ever spoke they sang together, at a session in Irish pub Mulligans in Amsterdam. Now Sophie Janna and Margot Merah tour all around the world with their Scottish, Irish and American folk repertoire and intimate self-penned songs. The beautiful blend of their voices, unaffected style of singing and choice of songs makes them a sought after duo in the international folk scene. The past few years saw them tour the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Scotland, England, the United States, Canada and Japan. The Lasses' fifth album 'Near Far' is an ode to the Scottish folk scene, with traditional songs as well as music from contemporary Scottish artists. With producer Janos Koolen and guest musician Stijn van Beek, the album is a beautiful collection of songs with the stripped-back, but diverse instrumentation The Lasses are known for. As always, their strong harmonies take the center stage.
